
Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon (born on March 22 1976) is an American actress. Witherspoon has received numerous awards which include an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award as well as a Primetime Emmy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards, she is regularly ranked among the world's highest-paid actresses. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people around the globe in 2006 and in 2015, and Forbes named her one of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women in 2021 and 2019. Forbes has named her the world's wealthiest actor in 2021. Her estimated amount of $400 million in her net worth. Witherspoon made her screen debut in The Man in the Moon (1991). In 1999, Witherspoon made her breakthrough with the supporting role in Cruel Intentions. She was also famous for her portrayal of Tracy Flick as Election's black comedy. Her performances in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) and Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) have earned her more attention. She was critically acclaimed and won the Academy Award for Best Actress in the role of June Carter Cash, in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a downturn in her career in which Water for Elephants (2011) was her only box-office success, Witherspoon decided to make her comeback, producing and play Cheryl Strayed, the drama Wild (2014).
